The Oil, Gas and
Energy Resources Team provides legal support for those companies
involved in the exploration and production of energy resources. Our
attorneys handle all types of oil, gas and energy resource matters,
which extend to property, title, contract, liability and
environmental issues. The team provides the following services,
including review of title and preparation of title opinions on
mineral ownership and related issues; transactions for the purchase,
sale or financing of prospects, production and operations;
permitting, pooling, unitization and other E&P matters requiring
regulatory approval; negotiation and preparation of agreements
traditionally used in development of energy resources, i.e., leases,
farmouts, operating agreements, joint ventures, etc.; permitting,
contracts, ROWs, condemnation (expropriation) and other legal issues
related to pipelines and other forms of transportation of oil, gas
and energy resources; and litigation related to development,
acquisition, and transportation of oil, gas and energy
resources.
Some of our
attorneys practice in forestry law and related legal issues which
affect the community, including real estate (the acquisition and
sale of forest land, contract preparation involving small or
multi-states sales, and acquisition of mills and production
operations); environmental (Phase I, II or III site assessment
consultation, permitting, etc.); private property rights (endangered
species advice and planning, eminent domain, wetlands advice and
Wild and Scenic Rivers advice); contracts (sale and purchase of
timber, application of chemicals to forest land, aerial burning,
hunting clubs, surface leases, planting of seedlings and boundary
line maintenance, etc.); oil and gas; litigation (obligations under
timber deeds, wrongful cutting of timber, adverse possession,
environmental degradation, surface damages, Migrant and Seasonal
Agricultural Worker Protection Act, fire loss, etc.); tax (like kind
exchanges, timber depletion and losses); financing and
administrative advices.
