The Governmental
Relations team provides detailed representation in the public sector
by integrating our clients’ federal, state and local business goals
and participating in legislative and executive branch processes. Our
attorneys and lobbyists assist clients in the formulation and
implementation of a work plan designed to accomplish these goals.
Phases of the planning process and pre-session activity have
included: advice and consultation on issue management; legislation
and amendment drafting; lobbying and coalition building. Legislative
work during sessions includes liaison activities with government
officials and staff; attendance at committee hearings and advice
regarding testimony before such committees; identifying and
reporting on targeted legislation; direct lobbying of legislators
and engaging the Administration if necessary. Post-session and
year-round activity may include identification and reporting of
certain regulations and Executive Orders; identifying and tracking
government solicitations; monitoring interim committee hearings; and
development and implementation of private sector initiatives.
Our attorneys and
professional staff have spent significant portions of their careers
working for local, state and federal governments and they maintain
close working relationships with local government officials, Members
of Congress, State Legislators and their staffs. We have experience
with the legislative process and an understanding of federal and
state budgets, appropriations and authorization processes.
